IT Technician Overview
Setting up computer workstations and peripheral devices (printers, network drives, etc.)
Maintaining functionality of computer software and networking
Management of computer hardware, devices, and printers
Troubleshooting technical issues in the office and warehouse
Who You Are
We are looking for a qualified and capable IT Technician that will maintain IT infrastructure and
mitigate a variety of technical problems that come up in the operation of our office and warehouse
spaces. This involves a dependable presence and strong communication skills with employees across all
departments to minimize technical disruptions.
A successful Silver Icing IT Technician must have a thorough knowledge of computer software and hardware
and a variety of internet applications, networks and operating systems. They will manage an assortment
of Windows and Macintosh computers in the office space, and a fleet of Android tablets and Linux-based
Raspberry-Pi machines in the warehouse.
The ideal candidate will be well organized and proactive, with the time management and prioritization
skills to flourish in a semi-autonomous position.
Responsibilities
Set up and maintenance of computer workstations and peripheral devices (scanners, printers,
Bluetooth, etc.)
Installation and training of employees on the use of business-specific software and
functions
Maintenance of local networks, VPN, and mapped drives, and ensuring the security of networks
and computer systems
Organization and scheduling of computer upgrades and maintenance while minimizing impact to
employee work
Management of technical asset directories, software licenses, and hardware audits
Reporting of improvements needed, complications encountered, and work done
Reporting feedback from employees by entering their requests into our development ticketing
system
Identification of infrastructure equipment supplies and shortages for placement of orders
Administration of Microsoft Active Directory and Exchange accounts
Setup and maintenance of the on-site security camera system
Administration of the PBX phone system
Organization of equipment and hardware in the IT and server rooms
Punctual completion of onboarding tasks for new employees, as well as offboarding tasks for
those leaving
Creation of tutorials and technical documentation, including flow charts for a variety of
use-cases
Requirements
Proven experience as IT Technician or relevant position
Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communications
Proficient organizational and time-management skills
In depth understanding of diverse computer systems and networks
Good knowledge of internet security and the latest best-practices of data privacy
principles
Degree in Computer Science and certification as IT Technician will be an advantage (CCNA,
CISSP, MCSE, or CompTIA A+)
